So I like the idea of what happens when you reflect on yourself. I really wanted this sculpture to be beautiful- in my mind it was going to be a perfect sphere with mirrors facing themselves inside. Wouldn’t that of been lovely?
well that didn’t happen. but this is what happened instead.

Kait broke a mirror in her studio, so I collected the shards of mirror and arranged them in the wood shop.

and gashed my finger in so doing so. also- this project is also is all taken on my camera phone because I didn’t have my camera at the time.

I plugged in the hot glue gun and got to work.

this idea was short lived- i had some mirrors saved from an earlier project. so i had to resort to another idea of placing shards of mirrors that were not even together.

this was slow.

it would of worked- but the mirror kept falling in on it self- and wouldn’t hold a shape. silly hot glue.

so i started gluing shards together that were not perfect- and it turned ugly very quickly- but still when you looked into the opening you could only see yourself- it was just a very ugly outside.

the finished product was a beast of a thing.

with an opening to look inside

the finished product look great from the inside, but quite horrible on the outside. Maybe that could comment ironically on people? ugly on the outside, beautiful on the inside? I don’t know.
