The idea for the project came from a mixing of social sphere (going methodically through all my friends on facebook’s profile pictures) and struggling to try to figure out how to put me personally into this project.
So this is what I did. One night, I went though all of my status updates that I’ve ever made on facebook and copy and pasted them into a word document.

This took longer that I thought it would- I’ve been on facebook for about 2 and half years. It was a very reflective process- remembering things that seemed important at the time, or realizing how much I used facebook to complain- travel plans- people i care about- songs that i liked- the whole transition to being an art major- family junk- etc.

It turned out to be 7 pages, size 14 font.
From here I printed out the status,

and started cutting them into long lines- I let all of the cut off pieces remind the same length- so that the status have more ambiguity

All the cut up statuses were then tossed around in a bowl- so that the old ones were mixed with the new.

lydia parson’s let me have a felted ball- which is basically yarn heated together that cause a new texture and even surface. This was the base of the ball.

And from here i started to tape and cover the ball.

over and over and over again.

and over and over and over again.

until it was done!

before and after photos done with a similar ball.

- I enjoyed this. It was reflective, but only to me personally. Which shows in the final result- by exposing all of my statuses out in the open- and then hiding them or most of them up in the ball.
